The upcoming Swiss Federal Assembly elections will see a record number of candidates and lists. 5908 candidates have been counted so far, compared to 4660 in the last election in 2019. Several large cantons have announced record-high numbers of candidates for the next election. In Zurich, 1341 people are running for the 36 seats, in Bern 776 candidates are running for 24 seats, and in Waadt 384 candidates are running for 19 seats. 618 lists have been submitted in the 20 cantons that elect representatives to the National Council using the proportional representation system, compared to 511 in 2019 and 422 in 2015.nnnnnnnnnnnn
