Solar Industry Desperately Seeking Personnel

The photovoltaic industry in Switzerland is growing rapidly, with the installed capacity of solar energy surpassing one gigawatt in 2022. This growth has created a high demand for solar installers, with the number of open positions in the energy and environmental technology sectors increasing by 11 and 6.1 percent respectively in April. However, the shortage of workers in the industry is making it difficult to meet the demand. To address this, Swissolar is introducing a dedicated vocational training program in 2021. Despite this, it currently takes an average of six to nine months from signing a project to the completion of the installation.
