Together with the additional photovoltaic capacity of 1,500 megawatts installed this year, solar power will secure at least ten percent of Switzerland's electricity supply in the coming year, according to Swissolar. In 2023, market growth of almost 40 percent compared to the previous year has been achieved.

The installed capacity at the end of the year is over 6,200 megawatts, which will enable annual electricity production of around six terawatt hours next year, as Swissolar reported on Wednesday.

For 2024, Swissolar expects further market growth of at least ten percent. This puts Switzerland on course for the required annual expansion of over 2,000 megawatts from 2027, which is needed for solar power to achieve its contribution to the target of 35 terawatt hours of electricity from new renewable energies in accordance with the framework decree.
