Solothurn cantonal councillor Brigit Wyss (Greens) will not be standing for re-election in the March 2025 elections. The 64-year-old from the city of Solothurn has been the first representative of the Greens in the cantonal government since 2017.

From the beginning of her term in office, Wyss has succeeded in gaining a foothold in the diverse and challenging Department of Economic Affairs, the cantonal party wrote in a press release on Tuesday. With her approachable political style, she has been able to position the canton of Solothurn as an attractive business location.

Wyss has brought green politics to the center of society with her political actions without blinkers. She has always been able to convey that consistent climate protection and a switch to renewable energy generation offer great opportunities.

The Greens want to defend their seat in the cantonal government in the general election in March 2025. It is essential that the Greens continue to be represented in the government, the party stated. In this way, "diversity in the executive" could be maintained.

The former National Councillor won a seat from the FDP in the second round of voting in 2017, after the party had previously held two seats in the cantonal government for 65 years.
