For the Swiss Media Publishers Association, the reduction in SRG fees falls short of the mark. Rather, a rapid redefinition of the SRG's mandate is required, the association said.

Digitization and the merging of traditional media categories have reshaped the media market, the publishers' association announced on Wednesday. In particular, the strong expansion of SRG's online activities is competing with the offerings of private media.

The association advocates limiting SRG's online activities. The extension of the current license until 2028 would slow down this step. A reduction in fees alone would not be effective.

The association is also calling for an increase in the share of fees for private radio and TV stations in order to significantly strengthen regional information provision.
