For the SVP, which was defeated by the other conservative parties, the Yes to the 13th AHV pension is the "receipt for the waste of money in the Federal Parliament". The billions of taxpayers' money squandered abroad and in the asylum sector by the center-left are to blame for the damaging Yes vote.
The party regretted the acceptance of the referendum, as it announced on Sunday. It does not blame the closed No bloc of the conservative parties, but the initiators. The result would be an AHV financial shortfall of five billion francs. The middle classes would have to pay for this.
The left wants to strengthen purchasing power and is therefore taking money out of the pockets of families and workers. The SVP is not playing along. It therefore rejects all higher wage deductions or VAT percentages. The additional costs of the 13th AHV pension can only be compensated by savings.
The party sees the potential for this in asylum, development cooperation and aid to Ukraine. According to the SVP, the center-left is squandering CHF 14 billion there. As a result, the 13th AHV pension met with approval.
Many voters justified their yes vote by saying that "there is money for everything in federal Bern, except for Switzerland and its own population", the SVP stated. The loss of purchasing power was also due to the failed left-wing policies of the other parties. The SVP listed immigration, the nuclear phase-out and the Energy Act.
