The airline is expanding its Executive Board. A Chief Operating Officer (COO) is to be added to the current three-member board. The company has also appointed a new Chief Financial Officer.

Oliver Buchhofer, currently Head of Operations, will take over the newly created position on May 1, 2024, according to a statement from the Lufthansa subsidiary on Tuesday. The COO will complement the current management team. This means that the airline will be managed by a four-member board in future. The 47-year-old Buchhofer is currently already a member of the extended Management Board as Head of Operations.

In addition, Dennis Weber will become the new Chief Financial Officer of Swiss, also with effect from May 1. Weber comes from Lufthansa and succeeds Markus Binkert, who will leave the company at the end of May, it is reported. Weber has been Head of Investor Relations at the Lufthansa Group since 2018 and is responsible for all of the Group's capital market communications.

It is still unclear who will become CEO of Swiss. The current Swiss CEO Dieter Vranckx is moving to the Executive Board of the parent company Lufthansa after just over three years in his position, as was recently announced.
