Due to the situation in the Middle East, the airline Swiss has been flying around the airspace over Iran, Iraq and Jordan since Tuesday. This extends flight times to Dubai, India and Southeast Asia by up to 15 minutes. Regardless of this, Swiss will avoid Israeli and Lebanese airspace until October 31.
The airline rerouted Tuesday's flight to Dubai via Antalya in Turkey. As announced on Tuesday evening, the aircraft was refueled there and continued its journey outside the restricted airspace.
According to Swiss, the measure for the airspace over Iran, Iraq and Jordan will initially apply until at least Wednesday. Swiss parent company Lufthansa has canceled flights to Tel Aviv until the end of October and to the Lebanese capital Beirut until November 30.
Swiss is constantly monitoring the situation. Its experts are evaluating all available information and are in contact with the authorities in Switzerland and locally, it added.
