The Swiss Foreign Ministry has reacted with dismay to the terrorist attack in Moscow that left dozens dead. Switzerland was "appalled" by the attack, which claimed so many victims, it said in a statement on the short message service X around three hours after the attack became known.

Switzerland expresses its deepest condolences to the families, the statement said. The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) is following developments closely.

In an attack on an event hall in the Moscow region, gunmen have killed 40 people, according to the Russian domestic intelligence service FSB. According to initial findings, more than 100 people were also injured in the Crocus City Hall in the city of Krasnagorsk, the Russian news agency Interfax quoted the agency as saying on Friday evening. Russia's Central Investigative Committee opened proceedings for a suspected act of terrorism.
