Swiss hotel industry with significantly more overnight stays in November

The Swiss hotel industry recorded significantly more overnight stays in November. The industry remains on course for record growth this year.
The number of overnight stays increased by 6.1% year-on-year in November, according to an initial estimate released by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) on Monday. In the previous month of October, an increase of 0.3 percent had been reported.
The increase in November is due to the strong growth in domestic guests. Overnight stays increased by 7.9% compared to the same month last year. There was also a 4.1 percent increase in guests. However, November is not a particularly important month for the local industry.
From January to October, overnight stays increased by a total of 1.7% to 37.0 million. Following the strong month of November, the industry is still on course to exceed the record figure of 41.8 million overnight stays from the previous year.
