The 14 organisations that make up the Forum for Human Rights in Israel/Palestine have called on Switzerland to increase its engagement in the Middle East. They have requested additional humanitarian aid for the local population and a stronger commitment to the region. The Forum, which is a coalition of organisations in Switzerland that are active on the ground and advocate for a human rights-based approach to the Middle East conflict, welcomed the Swiss government’s decision to not question its humanitarian aid to the region. In light of the current crisis, the organisations have called for an increase in the number of payments.

The organisations have urged Switzerland to strengthen Israeli and Palestinian human rights and humanitarian organisations and protect them from the repression of both Israeli and Palestinian actors. They have also called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to reactivate and prosecute investigations into war crimes in Israel/Palestine since 2015, including any war crimes committed in recent days.

The organisations have also called on both the Hamas and Israeli security forces to end the violence. They have condemned the deliberate attacks on civilians and disproportionate attacks that have resulted in the death or injury of civilians, which are considered war crimes. They have also demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all civilians taken hostage by the Hamas.
