Swiss short film advances to Oscar preliminary round

The Swiss short film "Ours" by Morgane Frund from Lausanne is on the shortlist for documentary short films at the 96th Oscars. Five films from the selection will be nominated in the coming weeks.
114 films were submitted in the category. The 19-minute documentary film "Ours" by Morgane Frund from Lausanne was made in 2022 as a final project in the Bachelor Video program at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSL). The film received a "Quartz" in the Best Graduation Film category at the Swiss Film Awards last March.
Switzerland was less successful in the race for a foreign Oscar. The feature film debut "Foudre" by Geneva director Carmen Jaquier did not make it onto the shortlist in the "Best International Film" category.
From the shortlist of 15 candidates, five films will be nominated for the final round on January 23. The Oscars ceremony is scheduled for March 10, 2024 in Los Angeles, California.
