The Swiss government has ended its assistance to Greece in the fight against forest fires and in the aftermath of the floods. The Swiss team, with the help of helicopters from the Swiss Army, provided support to the Greek authorities in firefighting operations in the area around Alexandroupolis in the northeast of Greece. During the five-day period, they were able to extinguish or contain several fires. In the second phase, the team focused on the flooded areas of Central Greece, using 270 tonnes of water in 27 flight hours. In the subsequent flood relief, 36 flood victims and helpers were transported and six tonnes of material were distributed in the region of Thessaly in 23 flight hours. Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou thanked the Swiss team for their work during her visit to Alexandroupolis. The Swiss response was in response to official requests for help from the Greek authorities. The helicopters and the Swiss team returned to Switzerland on Monday.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
