On Wednesday morning, Swissalert lifted the flood warning for the Thur in the Thur foreland in Thurgau. The warnings for the other risk regions remained in place.
Geneva, for example, has closed five bridges since Tuesday due to the risk of flooding. Swissalert issued flood warnings for the Saane in the Laupen-Gümmenen BE region, the Reuss near Mellingen AG, the Rhine near Basel and parts of French-speaking Switzerland and Valais. There was also a risk of landslides in some areas.
On the Säntis, 113.2 millimetres of rain fell in the 24 hours up to 3.00 a.m., as SRF Meteo reported on Wednesday night. On Tsanfleuron VS, 101.8 millimeters were measured.
The storm depression "Jasper" had already brought a lot of rain to Switzerland by early Tuesday evening. In the Alpine foothills and mountain regions, there was widespread precipitation of between 50 and 70 millimetres. The most rain fell on La Dole in the Vaud Jura until shortly before 5 p.m. with 100 millimetres, as the weather service Meteonews wrote in its blog.
