Swisscom is expanding its data centers. The telecoms group is taking over a data center in Bonvillars VD from Philip Morris.

Swisscom announced in a press release on Tuesday that this will expand the offering for companies that want to keep their data and business-critical applications in Switzerland. Companies will be able to flexibly book capacities in Bonvillars to cope with peak workloads or to selectively increase performance.

The new data center complements the existing network of Swisscom data centers in Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lausanne, Lugano and Zurich. This will increase reliability, according to the statement. A Swisscom spokesperson did not wish to provide any information on the purchase price for the data center on Lake Neuchâtel when asked: The company had agreed not to disclose this with Philip Morris.
