The Swiss government and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) have agreed on the objectives of their cooperation for 2023 and 2024. This includes increased interoperability between the Swiss Air Force and NATO communication systems, as well as the deployment of Swiss staff officers to NATO structures. The cooperation is part of the Partnership for Peace, a NATO program for bilateral cooperation with individual partner states. The individually tailored partnership program (ITPP) outlines general objectives such as dialogue, cooperation in new technologies and innovation, resilience, women's and peace promotion, disarmament and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. It also includes specific objectives related to the interoperability of military systems, such as the air force and communication. The Swiss participation in the Partnership for Peace is compatible with its neutrality. The ITPP contributes to the strengthening of international security cooperation under the Swiss government's neutrality. This is especially important in light of the war in Ukraine.
