Switzerland Examines Financial Support for Local Partners

The Swiss Department of Foreign Affairs (EDA) is monitoring the situation in Libya in relation to the flooding. They are assessing financial support for local or multilateral partners in order to meet the urgent needs of those affected by the floods. The Directorate for Development and Cooperation (Deza) is not present in Libya, but is coordinating humanitarian efforts from neighbouring Tunisia. Possible adjustments to existing activities to meet new needs are currently being examined. According to the Red Cross, around 10,000 people are missing following the devastating weather and flooding in Libya, with thousands of fatalities expected.
