Switzerland has once again extended the exemption from financial sanctions against Syria for humanitarian activities. This now applies until September 12. The Federal Council thus followed a decision by the EU on Wednesday.
Following the devastating earthquake in February last year, the Federal Council decided to suspend sanctions against Syria for financial transactions that are necessary to provide humanitarian aid or support the civilian population. The exemption initially applied for six months and was subsequently extended for a further six months.
