The Swiss government has sent three army helicopters and personnel to assist with firefighting efforts in Greece. The fires are currently raging in several regions, particularly in the area around the city of Alexandroupolis. On Saturday, the three Super Puma helicopters and army personnel will depart for Alexandroupolis, and the first firefighting operations will begin on Sunday. A team of Swiss Humanitarian Aid Corps and army experts has already left for Greece on Friday afternoon to coordinate with the Greek authorities. Around 30 Swiss experts will be involved in the operations, which are under the overall responsibility of the Federal Humanitarian Aid Department, which is part of the Swiss Foreign Affairs Department. The Swiss government had already sent the Super Puma helicopters to Greece during the fires in the summer of 2021.nnnnnnnnnnnnnn
