The former television presenter and actress Eva Mezger-Haefeli died on Monday at the age of 89. She was a television and radio personality from the very beginning, as Swiss Radio and Television (SRF) wrote in an obituary.

Mezger-Haefeli started out as a program assistant in the early 1950s and became a program announcer shortly afterwards, SRF wrote in the obituary published in the "Tages-Anzeiger" on Thursday.

In the meantime, Mezger-Haefeli appeared on stage as an actress. In the 1970s, she returned to television and hosted the show "Da Capo". This was later followed by the programs "Seniorama", "Treffpunkt" and "Lipsticks". After presenting over 1000 programs, Mezger-Haefeli retired in 1996.

She had entertained, inspired and informed her viewers well, SRF continued. Mezger-Haefeli left behind many traces of love and care, her family wrote in an obituary also published on Thursday.
