The Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) rolled out the green carpet once again on Thursday for its opening night. Numerous Swiss cultural representatives and celebrities were invited, including Federal Councillor Alain Berset and Zurich City President Corine Mauch. Singer Baschi with wife Alana Netzer, actors Carlos Leal and Joel Basman, presenter Christa Rigozzi and society lady Irina Beller were also on the guest list. The green carpet was laid out in front of the Kongresshaus for them. The carpet is green because the entire festival is climate neutral according to the organisers. The opening night featured the black comedy "Dream Scenario" by Norwegian director Kristoffer Borgli, who was also present. Hollywood star Nicolas Cage stars in the lead role. The film about an unfortunate family man whose life is thrown into disarray is having its European premiere in Zurich. Due to the strike of actors and screenwriters in Hollywood, the ZFF may not have as many big names as in previous years. Nevertheless, the ZFF has managed to attract some world-class film stars, such as Jessica Chastain, Diane Kruger, Wim Wenders, Ethan Hawke and Danish Bond villain Mads Mikkelsen. The ZFF, which will show a total of 148 films, will run until October 8th.
