The International Energy Agency (IEA) has concluded that Switzerland is on the right track in terms of energy policy, but implementation needs to be accelerated. An electricity agreement with the EU would also strengthen the electricity supply of both Switzerland and the EU. The Swiss government and cantons need to speed up the approval process for renewable energy installations and electricity networks. The IEA identified three major obstacles to faster implementation of Swiss energy policy: a shortage of qualified personnel for installing heat pumps, lengthy approval processes for renewable energy installations, and interrupted supply chains for building materials and equipment for the energy sector. The IEA reviews the energy policies of its member countries every five years.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
