Retour au fil d'actualité
The Kunstmuseum Luzern is presenting an exhibition of photographs by Daniel Schwartz entitled "Tracings" until February 4th, 2024. The exhibition is a cross-section of Schwartz's 40-year career, featuring photographs taken in Asia, Afghanistan, Switzerland, and New York. Schwartz is known for his large-scale reportages, such as his 1987/88 documentation of all known sections of the Great Wall of China. The exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Luzern, however, is a cross-section of his entire oeuvre, featuring never-before-seen photographs from 1976 to 2021. The photographs are organized into six cabinets, titled "Associations", "Observation", and "Form". The images depict everyday life, from workers in shipyards to street children and slum dwellers, as well as the destruction caused by climate change and war. The photographs are unassuming and peaceful, showing not grand events but the mundane. One photograph from 2012 is titled "A Very Ordinary Day" and shows a fully veiled woman at a market in Kabul.
