The "Neue Zürcher Zeitung" (NZZ) comments as follows on the "yes" vote on the energy decree:
"With the Electricity Act, Switzerland is laying the foundations for solving its supply problems. (...) The SVP cut a poor figure in the referendum campaign. While the party still supported the Electricity Act in parliament, it quickly changed sides three months before the vote under the leadership of the new party president Marcel Dettling. The impression remains that the party is not a reliable force in energy policy. Instead of helping to solve the pressing supply problems, it prefers to present itself as an opposition party in an endless loop. (...) However, there should be no illusions: The new electricity law will not make Switzerland's supply problems disappear into thin air. Environmentalists and other objections will continue to find reasons to delay the construction of new power plants with complaints."
