The delegates of the SVP have spoken out in favor of no longer allowing list combinations in National Council elections. The party's parliamentary group is to campaign for a change in the law. However, sub-lists should still be possible.
Due to the list combinations, the will of the voters is not clearly reflected. This was explained by Aargau National Councillor Thomas Burgherr, who had tabled the motion. Arithmetical and electoral tactical considerations, on the other hand, were in the foreground.
"The influence that the remaining seats have on the distribution of seats is beyond the control of the voters," Burgherr went on to explain his motion.
259 delegates supported the motion. Sixty-six delegates opposed the motion, while three abstained.
