The "Tagesanzeiger" and its sister newspapers from the Tamedia publishing house report online on the determination of the SP's two-person ticket for the Federal Council elections:
"The result of this - somewhat complicated and lengthy - process: Switzerland will experience the most exciting Federal Council elections in a long time. Both Jans and Pult are considered strong candidates, both are good communicators, no one is the clear favorite. There are, of course, clues. The two differ in age (Jans is already almost sixty, Pult only almost forty), origin (city versus country), experience in an executive office (which Jans has and Pult does not). Pult is seen as a tad more left-wing, Jans as a tad more pro-European. Jans has a problem with the farmers, but would have liked to have read that FDP leader Thierry Burkart wants someone with leadership experience as SP Federal Councillor. Pult is very well connected in the Federal Parliament and has demonstrated his strategic skills in this nomination process."
