In Valais, the Rhone and its tributaries are threatening to burst their banks due to flooding. The cantonal authorities and the Alertswiss information platform warned of possible flooding on Friday.
According to the report, the discharge of the Rhone was at a high level on Friday morning. It should continue to rise until it reaches its peak on Friday in the late afternoon or evening.
According to the warning, flooding and debris flows may also occur in the tributaries. The reason for the flooding is a rain and thunderstorm front that has been moving across Valais since Thursday. Added to this are the melting snow and water-saturated soils.
It is recommended not to approach the watercourses, not to park on bridges, to restrict freedom of movement and to refrain from filming or photographing the storm events.
