The Ticino cantonal police have arrested a suspected drug dealer during an investigation into hashish, hemp and derivatives trafficking. According to the police, the 26-year-old supplied at least 80 people with hashish and earned over 150,000 francs in the process.

Investigations revealed that the 26-year-old Swiss man had been dealing in around 18 kilograms of hashish. Around 80 buyers had been identified and questioned, the Ticino cantonal police announced on Tuesday. Most of the people questioned were young adults.

Around 450 grams of hashish and several tens of thousands of francs in cash were also found in the man's apartment. The 26-year-old had already been arrested last July near Balerna in southern Ticino. Laboratory analyses of the confiscated drugs had shown that the THC content was almost 30 percent. Normally, this value is between 10 and 15 percent.

The man is charged with a qualified offense against the Narcotics Act.
