Train hits five horses in Graubünden – all animals dead

A Rhaetian Railway (RhB) train hit five horses near Madulain GR on Saturday evening. All five animals were killed on the spot. The multiple unit sustained extensive material damage.
According to initial findings, the animals escaped from an enclosure, as reported by the Graubünden cantonal police on Sunday. This is located in La Punt Chamues-ch. In a blind bend, the animals collided with the train, which was traveling in the direction of La Punt Chamues-ch.
RhB had to use a special vehicle to clear the accident site. Until the clearing work was completed, eight trains were canceled and replaced by buses. The police have launched an investigation into the accident.
