For the first time, some of the material for the World Economic Forum (WEF) will be transported by rail to Davos GR next January. Previously, all goods were transported by truck.

The environmental department of the municipality of Davos has advocated that some of the large quantities of event and interior construction materials be transported to the WEF venue by train, according to a press release on Thursday.

For the "WEF logistics by rail" project, the Graubünden rail freight company has already carried out two trial transports together with SBB Cargo, which went off without incident. Offers have now been created for the individual companies for the WEF Annual Meeting in January 2024.

The aim is to relieve even more pressure on Graubünden's roads for the WEF 2025, the municipality of Davos continued. In future, semi-trailers will also be transported by rail as far as possible and longer truck journeys from abroad in particular will be replaced by rail transportation.
