A new digital medium, the "Tribune des Nations", has been launched in Geneva. The launch was brought forward after the media company Tamedia announced job cuts at its newspaper titles, including the "Tribune de Genève", last week.
The "Tribune des Nations" is positioning itself as the voice of global dialog, offering a platform for all nations without being biased or ethnocentric. This was stated in a press release from Pulsar Media, the publisher of the new medium. The editorial team has hired a full-time journalist. He is Alain Jourdan, the former UN correspondent for the "Tribune de Genève".
The founder of Pulsar Media, Sherif Mamdouh, explained that a regular freelancer is also part of the team. The editorial team will draw on the expert network of the Geneva Geostrategic Observatory. The medium, whose content is free of charge, is self-financing. Mamdouh is counting on income from advertising, sponsorship and public reports. The commercial offering will be expanded shortly.
"In these dark times for the press, it is more important than ever to maintain a dynamic journalistic environment where plurality and independence remain a priority," Mamdouh noted. Due to recent announcements in the press sector, "we have decided to bring forward the launch of the website in order to respond immediately to the urgent need for information and international dialog," he added.
The website will be updated daily.
