Truck driver killed in accident in Verbier VS

A 34-year-old truck driver has died in a spectacular accident between Le Châble VS and Verbier VS. The vehicle overshot the road and came to a standstill on its roof several meters below the road.
Rescue workers were only able to determine the death of the truck driver, as reported by the Valais cantonal police on Tuesday.
The accident occurred on Monday afternoon at around 3.45 p.m. shortly after the hamlet of Fontenelle. According to the police statement, the truck veered onto the oncoming lane in a long right-hand bend for reasons that are still unclear, collided with the crash barrier and then left the road. The truck then plunged several meters and came to a halt on its roof next to a shed.
The road between Le Châble and Verbier was closed for the entire duration of the rescue operation, and the public prosecutor's office and the police launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
