Truck on Furka car train catches fire – route closed

On Tuesday afternoon, a truck caught fire on a train loading cars from Oberwald VS to Realp UR. According to the press release, the train was still able to reach Realp. However, operations on the line are currently suspended.
Emergency services and the tunnel rescue service were called out, wrote the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway in a statement on Tuesday evening.
At present, no information is available on the cause of the fire or any damage to property or personal injury. The railroad announced further information for 6.30 pm.
