Two seats in the seven-member St. Gallen government remained vacant in the first round of voting on March 3. The second round of voting on Sunday will see a duel between the SP and SVP.
Le 3 mars, les cinq anciens membres du gouvernement de Saint-Gall ont été facilement réélus. Aucun des nouveaux candidats n'a obtenu la majorité absolue. Il n'est donc pas encore certain que la composition actuelle soit maintenue. Jusqu'à présent, le gouvernement était composé de deux membres du PRD, du parti du centre et du PS, ainsi que d'un représentant de l'UDC.
On April 14, it will now be decided whether the SVP, by far the strongest party in the conservative rural canton, will succeed in winning both of the remaining vacant seats. The SVP was previously represented in the government by Education Director Stefan Kölliker, who did not run again. The SP, on the other hand, wants to defend its second seat following the resignation of Fredy Fässler.
Marc Mächler et Beat Tinner du FDP, Bruno Damann et Susanne Hartmann du Center Party et Laura Bucher du SP ont déjà été élus au gouvernement de Saint-Gall.
