Ukraine conference begins in Davos GR – expectations dampened

The 4th Ukraine Peace Formula Conference began in Davos GR on Sunday. Security advisors from around 90 countries that support Ukraine gathered at the congress center in the morning to discuss ways to reach a future peace agreement with Moscow.
These were not actual peace talks. Russia was not present. China, which is close to Moscow, was also absent.
Expectations were cautious. "It's a Ukrainian plan, not a Russian one," a member of the federal government familiar with the dossier told the Keystone-SDA news agency at the beginning. But all questions regarding a possible agreement would be addressed.
Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis welcomed the Ukrainian initiative months ago, but considered it insufficient because, in his opinion, a plan would have to be approved by both sides.
The meeting in Davos is to be the last after talks in Denmark, Saudi Arabia and Malta. "You don't have to talk about this peace plan for years", said the Swiss source. Many partners are now at the table for a conclusion.
