UN Security Council to hold emergency meeting on Middle East on Wednesday

In view of the escalating situation in the Middle East, the UN Security Council is to convene for an emergency meeting on Wednesday at 16:00 CEST. This was announced by the Swiss presidency of the most powerful UN body in New York. The Council is largely deadlocked on Middle East issues, but it is not ruled out that the 15-member body could agree on a joint position in view of the danger of a major war.
