The first case of bird flu in Switzerland this winter, which occurred in the canton of Uri at the beginning of November, has not spread any further. The measures against the spread of the H5N1 virus have therefore been lifted.
The disease was detected in a dead swan in the Reuss delta. The canton of Uri then set up a control and surveillance area. No further cases of confirmed bird flu have occurred in this area, the laboratory of the original cantons announced on Friday in Brunnen SZ.
The measures against the spread of the bird flu virus were therefore lifted on Friday. However, cases of bird flu could occur at any time during the winter months, according to the laboratory of the original cantons. Contact between wild birds and domestic poultry should therefore be avoided as far as possible.
