Following a landslide in Val d'Anniviers in Valais, the road between Vercorin and Vissoie was temporarily closed on Saturday. The Val d'Anniviers was thus cut off from the world for several hours.

Around 200 cubic meters of earth and rock fell onto the road near the village of Pinsec on Saturday. This happened without causing any damage to the road surface, as road maintenance officer Alby Aymon told the Keystone-SDA news agency when asked. After an on-site analysis, the area was cleared and made safe. The municipality of Anniviers announced that the road would be reopened at 6.30 pm.

The road between Sierre and Vissoie had already been closed since last weekend. With the renewed landslide on Saturday, the Val d'Anniviers, which is home to several ski resorts such as Zinal and St-Luc, was briefly cut off from the Rhone plain.
