Air Zermatt and Air-Glaciers are not to have any competition from Rega or other helicopter companies for mountain rescue services in Valais. The Valais government rejected complaints from Rega and Héli-Alpes, who were left empty-handed. The case is now before the Federal Supreme Court.
Swiss Air-Rescue (Rega) and Héli-Alpes had objected to the decision by the Cantonal Valais Rescue Organization (KWRO) last November to award the helicopter rescue contract only to Air-Glaciers and Air Zermatt. However, their complaints against this decision have now been rejected by the Valais cantonal government.
At the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency, Valais State Councillor Christophe Darbellay (center) confirmed on Thursday a report by the daily newspaper "Le Nouvelliste", according to which the cantonal government essentially agrees with the KWRO's position.
