The Swiss Transport Club (VCS) wants to fight against highway expansion in Switzerland with a dual presidency. The fight against the "excessive expansion plans" is at the heart of the organization's political activities.

Together with a broad alliance, the VCS had launched a referendum against the expansion of the Swiss highways under the title "Stop highway construction mania". The date of the vote has not yet been set.

The delegates' meeting on Saturday in Delsberg JU elected a co-presidency at the top. They are 32-year-old Bernese municipal politician Jelena Filipovic and 37-year-old Vaud cantonal parliamentarian David Raedler. The two replace Ruedi Blumer from St. Gallen, who headed the VCS for six years.
