The peace conference on the Bürgenstock will only directly affect a few people in the neighborhood. The village centers of Stansstad NW and Ennetbürgen NW will not be part of the exclusion zone.
It is an advantage that the conference is not taking place in a town, said Nidwalden police commander Stephan Grieder at an information event for the population in Stansstad on Monday. There will be a red zone to which only people with the appropriate badge will have access.
In addition to the conference participants, these also included the people living in the zone. Leisure activities are prohibited in the red zone, said Grieder. "There is no biking, no jogging and no barbecuing."
The peace conference organized by Switzerland will take place on 15 and 16 June. The aim of the meeting at the level of heads of state and government is to develop a common understanding of a possible path to peace in Ukraine.
