Wildlife guardians in Valais have shot a wolf. The animal was shot on Thursday in the Ferpècle-Arolla region, as the State Council announced on Friday. The shooting had been approved by the authorities at the beginning of September. According to the State Council, several sheep and one cow had been attacked in the region. In total, eleven farm animals had been attacked on agricultural land and two alpine pastures that could not be adequately protected. Thus, the conditions for ordering a shooting were given, said the State Council. The killed animal was transported to the Institute for Fish and Wildlife Health at the University of Bern for diagnosis and identification.
