Warmest temperature of the year so far measured in Sion

The highest temperature of the current year in Switzerland has been measured in the Valais canton capital of Sion. A temperature of 34.4 degrees Celsius was recorded there late on Tuesday afternoon, according to the website of the Federal Office of Meteorology.
The measured values in Sion thus exceeded the previous annual records for 2024. 33.5 degrees were measured in Chur, Graubünden, on July 15 and 34.3 degrees in Biasca in Ticino on Monday a week ago.
At around 5 p.m., the temperature in Sion even rose to 34.7 degrees, according to the MeteoSwiss website (Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology).
