The weather conditions with prolonged warm temperatures and plenty of moisture have led to a significant increase in the quantity of berries. A total of 3788 tons of Swiss berries are expected to reach the market.
The volume of berries relevant to the market was reached around a week earlier than last year, the Swiss Fruit Association (SOV) announced on Wednesday. Specifically, 2165 tons of raspberries, 548 tons of blackberries, 737 tons of blueberries and 388 tons of currants are expected.
Production will remain at a high level over the next five weeks, the report continued. With the exception of blueberries, the market is expected to be fully supplied with Swiss berries. Swiss berries are exclusively available from July to October.
