In his opening speech at the party conference in Davos, SP Co-President Cédric Wermuth sharply criticized the centrists and the FDP. Both parties were copying the SVP on asylum policy and thus displaying a "disturbing desire for violence against those below".

Among other things, Wermuth referred to the National Council's decision in the fall session to ban the reunification of families of refugees from civil wars. Co-President Mattea Meyer spoke of a "disdain in a radicalized way" that has been running through the political debate for a year.

The austerity measures announced by the Federal Council were also criticized. According to Wermuth, the SP wanted to defend the people and their social needs.

On the stage of the Davos Congress, Meyer announced with a side-swipe at the World Economic Forum (WEF) that he would not leave the stage to the powerful and the right. The challenges are too great to leave people alone in social isolation.
