Wim Wenders is considered Germany's most renowned director. On Saturday evening, he walked the blue carpet in Lucerne. He was honored for his life's work at the 37th European Film Awards Gala.
Wim Wenders and his wife Donata Wenders walked the Blue Carpet into the Lucerne Culture and Convention Center (KKL) in Lucerne as a glamorous duo. In good spirits, they joked with the people lining the Blue Carpet.
The reason for Wenders' appearance is the presentation of the European Film Awards, one of which he will also receive on Saturday evening. It is as if he is receiving an award from his own family, Wim Wenders told the Keystone-SDA news agency on Saturday afternoon. Wenders was one of the founders of the European Film Academy in 1989 and also one of its youngest members. He presided over the Film Academy for 24 years.
He will now be honored with the European Lifetime Achievement Award on Saturday evening at the KKL Lucerne. Wenders' multifaceted oeuvre includes "Paris, Texas" (1984), "The Sky Over Berlin" (1987) and "Perfect Days" (2023). In total, the star director and screenwriter has made over 30 films.
