Woman dies in fire in Lachen SZ

A woman died in a fire in Lachen SZ on Thursday night. The other occupants were able to leave the building unharmed.
According to a statement from the Schwyz cantonal police, there was a fire in a two-family house. Smoke was billowing out of a skylight. The fire department, who were alerted after 03:40, were able to extinguish the fire.
A family of three who lived in one of the apartments were able to leave the burning house in time and unharmed, according to the Schwyz cantonal police. A 79-year-old woman, who was in the other apartment, was found dead after the fire was extinguished.
The cause of death is being investigated by the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the University of Zurich. According to the press release, the police and public prosecutor's office have begun investigating the cause of the fire. The fire departments from Lachen, Altendorf and Pfäffikon were deployed.
