Woman in Vevey VD allegedly killed by partner

A 40-year-old woman was killed in an apartment in Vevey VD on Saturday. The suspected perpetrator, her partner, was arrested at the scene.
The Vaud police headquarters received a call at around 2.30 a.m. that a woman was lying lifeless in her apartment in Vevey, the Vaud cantonal police announced on Tuesday. The police and paramedics were quickly on the scene and tried in vain to help her. The woman, a Swiss national, died on the spot.
At the scene of the crime, her partner, a 32-year-old Swiss man, stated that he had injured the victim with a blunt object. The suspected perpetrator was immediately arrested by the police. The public prosecutor's office launched an investigation to determine the course of events and possible motives.
Large police contingent
The investigation was transferred to investigators from the security police. A public prosecutor applied to the court for compulsory measures to remand the alleged perpetrator in custody.
Three patrols from the Riviera police, four patrols from the gendarmerie, inspectors from the criminal investigation and forensics brigades of the security police, an ambulance and doctors from the University Center for Forensic Medicine of Western Switzerland were deployed.
