Worker suffers serious injuries during excavation work in Ticino

A 45-year-old man was seriously injured in a work accident on a road construction site in Locarno TI on Monday. According to the Ticino cantonal police, the man was carrying out excavation work and was hit by falling material for reasons that are still unclear.
The accident happened at around 8.30 a.m. on Via Bramantino in Locarno, the police wrote in a press release.
According to the report, the man, who lives in the Bellinzona region, was hit by material that had come loose due to a subsidence of the road surface. The police are currently investigating the circumstances of the accident.
The man with Kosovan roots was taken to hospital after initial treatment on the spot. According to an initial medical assessment, he suffered serious injuries.
