The environmental organization WWF Switzerland has expressed its disappointment with the outcome of the World Climate Conference in Azerbaijan. The 300 billion per year that is to flow by 2035 is "completely inadequate", as the organization's political director, Manuel Graf, announced.

In the run-up to the climate conference, there was no discussion in Bern about how Switzerland could contribute its fair share to a new financial target, Graf criticized in a statement on Sunday night.

The WWF representative called for Switzerland's international climate financing to be based on a separate, earmarked levy that would be collected according to the polluter-pays principle wherever possible.

Little progress has also been made on the planned phase-out of fossil fuels. "Switzerland had campaigned for a clear roadmap, but was thwarted by the gas and oil states in particular," Graf was quoted as saying in the press release.
